Stop the Insanity!

# 034 September 7, 2010

Hello everyone,

The BLS printed their “Jobs Jamboree on Friday, following are some details of the report:

Manufacturing payrolls declined by 27,000.

Employment at service-providers fell by 54,000.

Retailers cut 4,900 workers.

State and local governments gave walking papers to 10,000 people.

The federal government cut 111,000 jobs (mostly temporary census workers).

The number of "underemployed" - people who want full-time work, but have given up and are now working part-time, increased again, from 16.5% to 16.7%.

In other news, 41.3 Million people received Food Stamps in June. The population of the U.S. is a little over 310,000 people (legals only, not counting illegals)… so this means about 7.5% of Americans are on Food Stamps, not to mention all the other government welfare programs.

In the good news department, the official party line was “the jobs numbers were better than expected…” WHAT? They were better because they were not as bad as expected! If you factor in underemployed and those that have given up finding a permanent job, the real unemployment rate is over 17%.

And better news, the current administration has proposed a new $50 billion infrastructure spending bill…I guess the original $787 billion “stimulus” wasn’t quite enough! Thank God help is coming (he said tongue in cheek).

I don’t know about you, but I’ve had it! The elected representatives (on the Federal level) appear to have gone insane. I certainly hold the Obama administration responsible for their part of this fiasco, but I also blame Bush II and anyone that has served more than one term in Congress (except Ron Paul, the voice crying in the wilderness!).

What would I like to see? Every single Representative and Senator that has served more than one term should be voted out of office. Yes, anyone. If our President, most Governors and Mayors can only serve two terms, why should the Congress be allowed to make a career out of their position? Congress produces nothing of value.

If these guys (and gals) are so d**** smart, give them the opportunity to make their way in the real world – without a Federal paycheck, expense money and benefits. Let’s track their progress and see how “wealthy” they become without the government paycheck. I wonder how many would be able to operate a business considering the onerous taxation and destructive laws that they have helped put in place.

It seems the only careers available in our society that allow you to make millions of dollars is a career of being elected to Congress or being in the upper echelons of the “too big to fail banks”…

I don’t know, it just does not seem right to me… how about you?

With warmth and regards (as always),

Allen
